TESLA MODEL S P85 ELECTRIC GT TRACK SPEC
This project started off after I got fed up sliding around when really pushing the car on track with the standard leather seats. The solution was to put in bucket seats, but that created another issue, which was with no seat mounted factory fitted airbags, it wouldn't pass an MOT anymore.
I could have done the resistor trick, but any half decent MOT tester, or VOSA roadside stop would know. The solution to that was to go "Extensively modified".
"Item 13 in the front of the MOT regs book states that if a vehicle has no rear seats, has a roll cage and harnesses, then it is extensively modified, and may not be expected to have airbags, power steering or power brakes."
I kept steering and brakes, but all the airbags have gone (they would foul on the roll cage anyway). The end result is a full track built car, which is still a daily driver.
It made no sense to get rid of the car, as it has free supercharging for life, and with the price of fuel at the moment, I reckon running an equivalent performance petrol car would be crazy expensive!
